It has been raining here off and on for the past week or so. This past weekend was the second weekend in a row that we've had rain. It limits to what we can do outside. But it often leads to me spending more time in the studio creating. And that has been what Ive been doing the last few days. Sculpting shrooms and shroom jars.
What's a shroom jar you ask?? Why its a cute little jar which stands approximately 4 inches in height. Inside is a lovely little patch of Irish moss, or Scottish moss. Not really from either country, but I just like to think so. It really came from Hobby Lobby so perhaps in reality it came from China.
Anyway, I handsculpted two shrooms. One being extremely small at about 3/4 inch high. Adorable little thing :) Then I sculpted its twin, except its not an identical twin, because the second shroom is more like 2 1/2 inches tall. Then my mind thought, it needed something else. And then it dawned on me that shrooms make great company to snails. I dont' think snails eat shrooms like gnomes do. A delicacy in a gnomes book.
So I went and sculpted a little snail, and named him Sluggie. Why Sluggie I don't know why. Because its a snail and not a slug. Perhaps a snail looks like a slug with a shell? I don't know why. But Sluggie was the first thing that came to mind. So Sluggie it became.
Now we had a short period of wonderful sunshine today. But the clouds are moving back in and more rain is to be expected. Poor hubby is trying to change the oil on the lawnmower and do some grass cutting before the next round of rain comes in. Our yard is beginning to look like a hayfield. Which is perhaps a delight to our neighbors cows.
With that said, I will be back in the studio sculpting more shrooms. Yep, its raining shrooms.
